Brick Township, NJ (April 1, 2022) – A teenager was injured in a bicycle accident that took place on a roadway in Brick Township and involved a hit-and-run driver.
According to local officials, the accident happened around 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of Millbrook Road and Lanes Mill Road. A 14-year-old was traveling north in the area when the bicycle was struck by the front of an SUV. The teen, as well as his passenger, were thrown from the bike and the driver of the SUV fled the scene.
Paramedics and numerous other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Both the teen driver and his passenger, identified as a 16-year-old, were injured in the accident. The passenger was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment of internal injuries.
Police confirmed that the driver who fled the scene was later found at his home. The driver and his passenger, identified as a 65-year-old woman, were not injured.
The roadway was blocked in the area for about two hours as police worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
