Camp Hill, PA (April 15, 2025) – According to the Pennsylvania State Police, which released further details after a collision on Monday morning, a construction worker was killed in a four-vehicle crash on Route 581 in Cumberland County.
It happened in the eastbound lanes in Camp Hill Borough around 4:30 a.m. on April 14. The crash scene was located between Exit 3, Route 11/Carlisle Pike, and Exit 5, Route 15/Gettysburg/Camp Hill.
According to state police, a construction vehicle was in the closed right lane picking up cones in the work zone. A FedEx double tractor-trailer was driving in the left lane when it entered the closed right lane and struck the back of the construction vehicle, according to a recent report.
The tractor-trailer then hit another vehicle, and debris from the wreck damaged a fourth vehicle, police said. PennDOT said that two workers were inside the construction vehicle at the time.
Both individuals were transported to the hospital, where one of the workers was pronounced dead upon arrival, per state police troopers. Their identity has not yet been released. The second worker suffered moderate injuries, police added. However, no further details were released while an investigation is still ongoing.
