Cape May, NJ (February 6, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal house fire that took place in Cape May on Sunday morning, February 6.
According to officials, the accident happened around 1 a.m. at 200 Suzanne Avenue. Fire crews received multiple calls about a one-story residence that caught on fire in the area. When they arrived at the scene, they found that heavy flames were shooting out of the top of the home and it was engulfed in smoke.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One person, who has not yet been identified, was found inside the home by fire crews. They were tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Due to the severity of the fire, the area was blocked for some time. It took fire crews an extended period of time to get the fire under control.
The investigation into the circumstances of the fire continues.
