Cherry Hill, NJ (May 5, 2022) – Around 11 a.m. on Thursday morning, May 5, one person was hurt in an apartment fire in Cherry Hill.
The Cherry Hill Police Department confirmed that the fire broke out in a single apartment at the Colonial Apartment complex on Cooper Landing Road. Police have not yet commented on the circumstances leading up to the fire but various fire departments were dispatched to the scene to help. They quickly brought the fire under control within the complex before it was able to spread throughout the building.
Multiple EMS vehicles were present at the scene to help those who were in the building at the time of the event. One civilian was hurt as a result of the fire. The extent of their injuries is not known but they were treated at the scene and then taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Due to the severity of the fire, the road was blocked off in the area. Police urged those traveling through to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

Our thoughts are with the civilian who sustained injuries in the fire. We hope for their full recovery at this time.
Fires in New Jersey
Fires break out commonly in the U.S. every single day. These incidents can happen anywhere but tend to spread more quickly in our major cities where houses and apartments feel closer together than ever. In 2020, it is estimated that approximately 490,500 fires broke out in residential and commercial areas, with approximately 13,000 people sustaining injuries in these incidents. Some injuries are more common than others in fires, including the following:
- Various-degree burns
- Smoke inhalation injuries
- Fatalities in the worst cases
The harsh reality is that many fires can be prevented when precautions are taken. If you believe that a party or multiple individuals are to blame for the fire that caused your injuries, you should speak with an attorney immediately.
