Closter, NJ (May 6, 2025) – An Englewood woman who was struck by a car while loading her car in the parking lot of the Closter Plaza on Saturday, May 3, has died, Closter police said.
The 73-year-old woman was loading groceries into the trunk of her car just after 6:00 p.m. on Saturday when a vehicle driven by an 89-year-old Allendale woman began backing out of a handicapped spot in front of HomeGoods, Closter Police Capt. Vincent Aiello said.
The vehicle backed across the travel lane, then jumped the curb and struck the victim. She was taken to Hackensack Medical Center in Hackensack, where she died on Sunday, Aiello said. However, no further details were released as officers confirmed that the crash remained under investigation. In the interim, officers asked any witnesses to come forward right away.
