Coatesville, PA (January 21, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash that took place on Wednesday morning, January 19.
Chester County officials confirmed that the accident happened in the morning hours on the railroad tracks near the intersection of North Street and Old Wilmington Road. A pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was crossing the tracks when they were suddenly struck by an Amtrak train. The train immediately came to a stop.
Numerous responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian was traumatically injured and was pronounced dead at the scene due to these injuries. Nobody on the train sustained injuries.
The intersection was blocked in the area of the accident for a period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
