Deptford Township, NJ (September 3, 2024) – Several people were taken to hospitals following a three-vehicle crash that sent two people flying from an SUV in Gloucester County on Sunday, September 1, police said.
A Chevrolet SUV was traveling on the right shoulder of southbound Route 55 in Deptford around 11:00 a.m. Saturday when it collided with a Ford SUV traveling in the right lane, according to a New Jersey State Police spokesman.
The impact sent the Ford into the left lane, where it struck a pickup truck, the spokesman said. Then, the two SUVs struck an embankment and overturned. The driver and passenger in the Chevrolet were thrown from their vehicle and taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Moreover, the occupants of the Ford were also taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. That said, New Jersey State Police troopers continue to investigate the crash in the interim and have not said whether citations or charges will be filed. Witnesses were asked to contact the NJP as soon as possible if they had further information related to the accident.
