Deptford Township, NJ (February 7, 2024) – A woman was killed, and four other people were hurt in a crash on I-295 in South Jersey Thursday night.
Investigators said a Chevrolet pickup truck and Dodge vehicle were traveling on I-295 northbound at milepost 19.8 in West Deptford Township, Gloucester County, around 7:00 p.m. The Dodge crashed into the back of the Chevy, causing the pickup truck to crash into a guardrail and overturn, New Jersey State Police said.
A passenger in the Chevy, now identified as a 38-year-old woman, was ejected from the vehicle and later died from her injuries, police said. The driver of the Chevy, a 44-year-old Philadelphia woman, also suffered serious injuries. The driver of the Dodge was hospitalized as well, while two other passengers in the Dodge suffered minor injuries. New Jersey State Police continue to investigate the crash in the interim and have not said whether citations or charges will be filed.
