Edison, NJ (May 5, 2022) – One person sustained injuries in a car carrier truck accident that happened on a major roadway in Edison on Wednesday afternoon, May 4.
According to local officials, the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Route 440. A car carrier truck was traveling in the area when it suddenly dropped one of its vehicles onto a pickup truck that was traveling close by on the highway. The vehicle fell into the back of the pickup truck, setting off a chain-reaction collision. Several vehicles slammed into the car carrier after they lost control, which led to extensive damages.
Several local responders, including medics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene. One person, who has not yet been identified, was injured in the collision. The unidentified victim was transported away from the scene by ambulance. Their condition is not yet known.
Several northbound lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for a period of time.
