Ewing Township, NJ (May 31, 2022) – One woman was transferred to a local hospital, while other minor injuries were reported at the scene, after a multiple-vehicle crash that happened on Tuesday morning, May 31, in the Ewing Township region.
The incident was reported at the intersection of Webber Avenue and Hazel Avenue, and New Jersey State Police say that the force of the collision’s impact caused one of the vehicles involved to roll onto the sidewalk. Ewing Fire Department rescue units were dispatched to assist with the rescue of one person from their car, a victim who was identified only as an adult female.
Medics later took the woman to the Capital Health trauma center via Ewing EMS, and she remains hospitalized in unknown condition. No citations or arrests have yet been made, though the investigation surrounding the wreck remains active.
Our sincere thoughts go out to those who have been hurt in this accident, and we wish them a full, fast recovery.
Traffic Crash Injuries in the State of New Jersey
Despite the consequences of the COVID-19 epidemic, such as fewer motorists on our state’s roads, almost 700 people perished in traffic collisions in New Jersey in 2021, the highest figure since 2007 and the third year in a row.
New Jersey State Police say that almost 695 victims succumbed to injuries they sustained in car accidents occurring in New Jersey throughout the prior year.
This is an increase of almost 100 above the level reported by authorities in 2020.
Last year, 218 pedestrians were killed in crashes, up from 79 in 2020, while 23 bicyclists were killed in collisions, up from 5 in 2020.
Unfortunately, when the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued the year’s first-half death statistics, these rises in highway mortality were comparable to national patterns documented by the agency. In actuality, approximately 20,150 people perished in motor vehicle accidents in the first half of 2021, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This is a 15-year high and an almost 19 percent rise over the same time period in 2020.
