Freehold Township, NJ (July 11, 2024) – A 21-year-old driver died Wednesday morning after her car was involved in a crash with a tractor-trailer in Monmouth County, police said.
New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron confirmed that officers who responded to the scene of the incident confirmed that the crash happened shortly before 11:00 a.m. on County Road 539 in Upper Freehold Township.
Lebron said a 21-year-old Trenton woman was driving a car north on the road while the truck was going south. Shortly thereafter, the accident took place around milepost 39.2, when the front of the truck hit the right side of the car in the southbound lane, causing both vehicles to go off the road, down an embankment, and hit a utility pole. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the truck, a 25-year-old Allentown man, sustained minor injuries, police said. However, the crash remains under investigation, and there is no additional information available.
We offer our deepest condolences to the deceased woman’s loved ones. Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their families in hopes of their full recovery.
Motor Vehicle Accidents in New Jersey
Serious and even fatal accidents involving automobiles, trucks, motorcycles, and buses happen daily in the Garden State. Thousands of individuals are tragically killed or wounded every year in these incidents, despite efforts by the government, automakers, and traffic experts to promote safe driving. In fact, New Jersey accounts for over 5% of the over 32,000 fatal traffic accidents in the United States yearly. More than 276,000 car accidents were reported to transportation officials in New Jersey in a single recent year, resulting in over 60,000 injuries.
Increases in traffic accidents occur despite better car and road safety, posing a threat to all drivers. Fortunately, the law may provide some remedies if an accident causes you harm.
