Gloucester Township, NJ (May 16, 2024) – Two motorcycle riders were critically hurt when they collided with an SUV head-on late at night on May 13, per officers’ reports released two days after the crash.
According to officers with the Gloucester Township Police Department, the SUV driver hit the motorcycle around 11:00 p.m. as the SUV turned left off Woodbury-Turnersville Road and entered the Elmwood Hills Healthcare Center in the Blackwood area. Upon arrival, officers discovered the motorcycle embedded in the other vehicle, standing straight up and out from the SUV’s engine and hood area.
After being ejected from the motorcycle, the two victims were transported to Cooper University Health Care in Camden. Police said that none of the SUV’s passengers suffered severe injuries, and all declined further medical attention after EMTs assessed each individual at the scene. The crash is still being investigated, and no charges have been filed. Witnesses were requested to contact the Gloucester Township PD as they continue to handle the ongoing inquiry.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.
Motorcycle Accidents in New Jersey
Motorcycle accidents are widely recognized as among the most dangerous types of traffic crashes in New Jersey. One reason is that motorcyclists are more vulnerable to fatal injury or death due to the lack of protective gear they often wear. To make matters worse, official statistics on fatal motorcycle crashes show that such accidents and the fatalities that result from them are on the rise. For example, in 2020, there were 77 motorcycle accidents resulting in 78 deaths, compared to a considerable increase in 2021 of 97 crashes and 99 fatalities. A fatal crash can happen in the blink of an eye if a driver isn’t paying attention and keeping their vehicle under control. For these reasons and more, if a tragic motorcycle accident has affected your life, it’s essential to consult a lawyer who puts you first.
After all, a major motorcycle accident has long-lasting repercussions for victims and their loved ones. Having a New Jersey motorcycle accident lawyer on your side is crucial through each step of an accident claim. For instance, the seemingly endless onslaught of medical bills after a severe motorcycle accident presents victims and their loved ones with financial difficulties, not to mention the pain of physical recovery and the stress of insurance company negotiations.
