Greencastle, PA (May 17, 2023) – On Wednesday afternoon, May 17, a deadly accident in Franklin County forced the closure of a stretch of Interstate 81.
Around 3:30 p.m., local officers and troopers with the Pennsylvania State Police reported the closure of northbound lanes at Exit 5 for Greencastle and Waynesboro.
Trooper Megan Frazer of the PSP confirmed that the incident resulted in at least one fatality, but she has not revealed any specific information about the victims involved or the cause of the crash. According to Frazer, the roadway will be blocked for a lengthy period of time.
