Lackawanna County, PA (June 13, 2023) – According to Lackawanna County Coroner Tim Rowland, a 17-year-old teenager from the North Pocono region died early Saturday morning from injuries sustained in a crash on Route 307.
Rowland said the incident happened approximately half a mile north of Route 690 and was reported to 911 dispatches at 5:55 a.m.
He said the victim was a passenger in a Jeep Cherokee that veered off the road and down an embankment. According to Rowland, the teen was ejected from the car and died of numerous traumatic injuries at the scene.
He reported that the driver, a male of unknown age, had also sustained injuries, though they were not life-threatening.
State police in Pennsylvania were sent to the scene for an investigation, which remains ongoing. It’s unclear if citations or charges will be filed at this time.
Our deepest condolences go out to the deceased victim’s family. The injured victims and their families are in our thoughts, and we hope for their full recovery.
