Lancaster County, PA (August 5, 2024) – According to officials with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, along with Lancaster County authorities, a crash shut down a stretch of Route 222 in the southern part of the county, near Strasburg Township, on Monday, August 5.
Authorities reported that the incident happened in the area of Beaver Valley Pike/Route 222 and Refton Road in Strasburg Township around 1:00 a.m. early Monday morning. Beaver Valley Pike/Route 222 was shut down between Breneman Road, Main Street, and Lime Valley Road for nearly six hours.
The number of vehicles involved and the number of casualties are unknown at this time, per troopers with the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP). At the site of the incident, however, EMTs were observed assessing a handful of victims for minor to moderate injuries. The injured were then transported to local medical facilities for further evaluation. In the meantime, PSP authorities proceeded with their investigation, which is still active, and requested that any witnesses contact them.
