Lebanon County, PA (December 14, 2024) – According to emergency dispatch, a PennDOT spokesperson said that Interstate 81 southbound was closed on the West Shore for a fatal crash on December 14.
The crash happened on I-81 between the Marysville/Enola exit and the Wertzville Road exit at milepost 62.5. As of 9:50 p.m., the highway was closed on the southbound side. One vehicle caught fire, and at least one person was killed.
Those requiring further care were transported to area hospitals, but it’s unclear how many people were hurt at this time. In the meantime, no further details were made available, though an investigation is still ongoing. Witnesses were asked to contact officers with the Swatara Township Police Department.
