Manchester, NJ (June 20, 2025) – A 77-year-old driver died after a crash with a pickup truck on Thursday, June 19, in Manchester, officials said.
The man was driving south on Route 539 just after 1:15 p.m. when the apparent head-on collision took place, Manchester police said. The man’s truck then veered off the road and hit a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 55-year-old man driving the other truck was not seriously hurt. His passenger, a 39-year-old man, suffered injuries, but it’s unclear if he was transferred to the hospital.
The crash, which happened near milepost 26.5, closed the road for several hours. In the meantime, the crash remains under investigation. Witnesses have been asked to step forward if they have additional information related to the collision.
