Manchester, NJ (May 5, 2022) – Three people sustained injuries in a dump truck accident involving a bus that took place on Wednesday morning, May 4.
According to Manchester officials, the accident happened after 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of Manchester Boulevard and Wranglebrook Road. Police arrived at the scene where they found that a 24-year-old man was operating a Ford dump truck headed north on Manchester when he failed to stop at the red light. His vehicle struck a Ford Escape being operated by a 55-year-old man who was headed through the intersection.
The force of the collision caused the dump truck to veer into another lane of traffic, where it struck a white Ford E-450 bus being driven by 62-year-old woman who was stopped at the light. The two vehicles collided head-on and went off the side of the road. The bus also slammed into a Mercedes Benz along the way, which was being driven by a 64-year-old woman.
Paramedics and several other responders were called to the scene. All three of the victims aside from the 64-year-old woman, as well as a 6-year-old passenger, were injured in the accident. They are all expected to recover from their injuries.
The roadway was blocked at the intersection for some time. Police found through their early investigation that the dump truck driver did not obey the traffic signal and was driving carelessly.
Police continue their investigation into the collision.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope that they will face speedy recoveries after the collision.
