Pennsauken, NJ (January 21, 2022) – A man lost his life in a fatal pedestrian crash that took place on a major roadway in Pennsauken on Wednesday evening, January 19.
Pennsauken Police confirmed that the accident happened around 7 p.m. in the northbound lanes of US-130 around the intersection with Garden Avenue. A male pedestrian was crossing the street near the intersection when he was suddenly struck by a Chevy Malibu that was traveling in the area. Witnesses watched the Malibu leave the scene without stopping.
Numerous responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, identified as a 53-year-old local man, was rushed to Cooper University Hospital with traumatic injuries. He was tragically pronounced dead while there.
Due to the severity of the collision, several northbound lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for some time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
