Philadelphia, PA (February 15, 2026) – A young boy was injured in a hit-and-run accident on Saturday, February 14, in West Philadelphia. The incident happened around 12:22 p.m. on the 800 block of 56th Street.
Police said a 9-year-old child was struck by a vehicle in broad daylight. The driver did not stop and left the scene immediately after the crash.
The child was taken to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment. Authorities said he suffered various injuries but is currently listed in stable condition.
Investigators described the driver as a man between 25 and 35 years old with short hair and a beard. The vehicle involved is believed to be a 2010 to 2013 Honda Crosstour, mostly burgundy in color, with a black passenger-side fender, a green passenger-side front door, a white passenger-side rear door, and a bicycle rack mounted on the roof.
Police have not yet identified the driver. Authorities continue to investigate the hit-and-run collision and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
Our thoughts remain with the child as he continues to recover.
Why Hit-and-Run Accidents Involving Children Raise Serious Concerns in Pennsylvania
Hit-and-run crashes involving children are especially troubling because children are among the most vulnerable road users, less visible and more unpredictable near traffic. In the U.S., about one in four pedestrian deaths involves a hit-and-run driver, complicating rescue and justice, and child injuries and deaths remain a serious safety issue.
In pedestrian accidents, injuries can include broken bones, head trauma, and internal injuries. Even when a child is listed in stable condition, doctors often monitor for symptoms that may appear later. Follow-up visits and careful observation are common parts of recovery.
After a hit-and-run accident, families often have questions about medical bills, insurance coverage, and what steps may be available if the driver is not immediately identified. Keeping hospital records, witness information, and any available reports organized can help clarify options.
A personal injury attorney can explain what legal avenues may be available after a pedestrian crash. Legal guidance may help families understand uninsured motorist coverage and whether compensation could be pursued depending on the circumstances.
