Philadelphia, PA (January 31, 2022) – A man was hurt in a serious hit-and-run pedestrian accident that took place on Friday, January 28, in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia Police confirmed that the accident happened around 12:32 a.m. at the intersection of Cedar Street and Westmoreland Street. A 40-year-old was walking in the area with his 28-year-old friend and was involved in a verbal dispute with the driver of a Cadillac SUV. The driver of the vehicle intentionally struck the pedestrian and his friend but then fled the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The 40-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. His friend was injured and rushed to Temple University Hospital for treatment.
The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene. Police did not say if they found the driver responsible for the accident.
