Philadelphia, PA (November 20, 2022) – Just after 11:00 p.m. in the later evening hours of Sunday, a multiple-vehicle accident ending in possible injuries to both drivers and passengers happened in the greater Philadelphia region.
The Philadelphia Police Department has determined that the incident took place on southbound Interstate 95 between exits 27 for Bridge Street and exit 30 for Cottman Avenue. There was a collision between two passing automobiles, reportedly due to a chain-reaction collision. One of the cars is said to have side-swiped the other while merging, leading to a chain reaction that ended in a multi-vehicle accident with extensive property damage, including a vehicle fire.
There were multiple emergency personnel sent to the area, including paramedics, firefighters, and others. At least one person was hurt in the incident, but authorities don’t know how badly or what their current status is.
The precise details of what caused the wreck are still being uncovered. It was asked that anybody who saw what happened or who knew anything about it contact the PPD immediately.
The injured victims and their families are in our thoughts, and we hope they make a complete recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Crashes in Pennsylvania
Philadelphia County had 10,108 car accidents in 2020, according to the latest recent numbers from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (the highest reported in any county throughout the Commonwealth). Also, every day in Philadelphia County, there are around 28 car accidents.
Sadly, in 2016, there were almost 12,600 incidents involving several vehicles in Philadelphia County.
In addition, Philadelphia has one of the highest rates of road deaths per 100,000 people of any large city in the United States. More specifically, New York City has 2.87 deaths for per 100,000 residents, whereas Philadelphia has 6. With 1.93 deaths per 100,000 people, Boston has the nation’s lowest rate, while Los Angeles comes in at a close second with 5.74 deaths per 100,000 people.
Without a doubt, being involved in an accident is a traumatic experience that may leave you feeling anxious about your future. If you were involved in a vehicle crash that wasn’t your fault but was unfortunately caused by another driver’s carelessness or lack of attention, the situation would be even more dire.
