Philadelphia, PA (February 28, 2023) – Officials reported that at least two to three people sustained injuries in a major car crash that unfolded in the greater Philadelphia region on Tuesday afternoon, February 28.
The crash happened at 3:35 p.m. on the westbound side of I-76 at I-676/Vine Street Expressway, not far from the Highway 30 exit.
Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department and nearby EMTs responded immediately after the crash. Paramedics appeared to treat or transfer at least one victim after the wreck, though they did not provide specific details on the number of people involved in the crash.
The authorities are continuing their investigation into the crash’s cause. As of now, the inquiry is still open and ongoing, and officers with the Philadelphia PD have not provided additional information to the public at this time.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims, as well as their families. We hope for their complete recovery.
Injury Car Crashes in Pennsylvania
According to data released by traffic analysts, rear-end accidents were the second most prevalent type of accident in Pennsylvania in one recent year. Moreover, because of the state’s high rate of multi-vehicle accidents in general, serious injuries and deaths occur all too often. In fact, with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania claiming a rate of over 20,000 accidents per year, it’s clear that all drivers statewide need to ensure they stay extra cautious on our roadways.
In particular, in rear-end accidents, victims may not know how to handle the aftermath. Inattentive drivers often cause these accidents by ignoring the road or their surroundings, thus rear-ending other vehicles. Pennsylvania motorists who fail to notice or pay attention to traffic signals, particularly red lights and stop signs, are the primary cause of rear-end accidents.
When it comes to most rear-end collisions, it’s immediately obvious who was at fault, while in others, the circumstances and finer details of the crash are unclear at best. For instance, some rear-end crashes occur when the lead motorist (or the vehicle in front) brakes abruptly, leading the driver behind them to smash into their car.
If you were seriously hurt in a rear-end crash or any other type of accident, you shouldn’t be responsible for covering your medical bills or other damages out of pocket. When someone else’s negligence has resulted in harm to you or yours, don’t hesitate to contact an attorney.
