Pedestrian Accidents in Philadelphia
Sadly, each year, Pennsylvania records an increase in the number of fatal pedestrian incidents. While fatalities on America’s roads were down in 2016, there was an increase in the number of different kinds of accidents. Fatalities at signalized junctions increased by 20 percent over the last decade, while those caused by distracted driving and head-on collisions rose by 10 percent over the same time period. Over the last two decades, those aged 65 to 74 have had the second-greatest number of pedestrian deaths and the third-highest number of traffic deaths.

Moreover, the number of pedestrian deaths throughout the nation has risen dramatically during the last decade. The number of road deaths is expected to increase by 13% between 2010 and 2020, according to preliminary statistics from the Governors Highway Safety Association, while the number of pedestrian fatalities is expected to increase by 54% over the same time period.
Although pedestrian accidents might happen anywhere, they most often take place on sidewalks, crosswalks, and parking lots. There are a lot of pedestrian accidents in our state, so it’s important that those who are seriously hurt know what their rights are.
