Philadelphia, PA (July 20, 2023) – A man was struck and killed by a car on Aramingo Avenue in Philadelphia on Tuesday evening, July 18, according to local officers who are now looking into the incident.
At the intersection of Aramingo Avenue and East Ann Street in Port Richmond, a man was reportedly struck by a vehicle at around 11:10 p.m., per early reports provided by officers with the Philadelphia Police Department.
Officers say that the 69-year-old man was hit by an unidentified driver who was heading north on Aramingo at Ann Street. Investigators added that the victim was rushed to the hospital by paramedics after suffering serious injuries, though he was declared dead shortly after his arrival, at about 11:30 p.m.
Police are unsure at this point if the driver of the vehicle that hit the victim stopped and made an effort to assist him or continued driving. Philadelphia PD officers said the driver had left the scene by the time officers were dispatched.
The PPD is continuing to handle the investigation at this time and has not provided additional information in the interim. Any witnesses who may have seen the collision are asked to contact Philadelphia authorities.
Our thoughts go out to the injured victim and their loved ones. We hope for their full recovery.
