Philadelphia, PA (January 7, 2022) – A man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Philadelphia around 3:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon, January 7.
Authorities reported that the accident happened on 2500 North Broad Street. A 60-year-old man started to cross the street but, while doing so, he attempted to avoid a vehicle that was traveling northbound. As he was swerving out of the way, a Dodge Dart traveling in the right lane struck him. The driver of the Dart remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The pedestrian was traumatically injured and was rushed to Temple University Hospital. He was tragically pronounced dead around 3:50 p.m.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
