Philadelphia, PA (May 12, 2022) – An auto accident involving multiple motorists was reported in the Philadelphia area and left at least one person with injuries on Thursday afternoon, May 12.
The motor vehicle wreck on Interstate 95 prompted the Philadelphia Fire Department and police to arrive shortly before 3:30 p.m. According to reports from local officials, the collision obstructed the southbound side of I-95 in the area of northbound I-476. Crews cordoned off the right lanes of the highway to remove the debris and collect evidence, causing moderate traffic delays.
At least one of the people involved was taken to a nearby hospital for medical care for injuries that were not disclosed. The accident is still being investigated at this time, and it’s unclear if the injured person was a driver or passenger in the wreck.
Our sympathies and hopes for a full recovery are with the accident victims who have been hurt.
Multi-Vehicle Accident Injuries in Pennsylvania
Every month, over 5,000 persons are wounded in motor vehicle accidents throughout each county making up the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Tragically, the majority of these incidents are caused by driver error or negligence. In fact, studies reveal that reckless behavior on the part of motorists causes more than 90% of all vehicle crashes in the United States.
Needless to say, when drivers aren’t safe behind the wheel, they are endangering their lives and the lives of many others on the road, from other motorists to bicyclists, pedestrians, and the like.
Authorities say that the following are just a few of the most prevalent causes of car accidents in Pennsylvania:
- Speeding or reckless driving
- Not yielding the right-of-way, or running through stop signs and red lights
- Distracted driving, such as texting behind the wheel
- DUI, or driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
