Philadelphia, PA (May 25, 2022) – In the earlier evening hours of Tuesday evening, May 24, an off-duty officer with the Philadelphia Police was killed in a motorcycle accident.
Authorities say the incident happened in the 3300 block of South Broad Street, located in South Philadelphia. The officer, identified only as a 27-year-old male, collided with a driver who was pulling out of a parking lot in the area around 7:00 p.m.
The officer was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered critical injuries. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene, despite resuscitation efforts by EMTs.
The driver, a 22-year-old, is reportedly cooperating with the investigation, which remains underway.
