Philadelphia, PA (July 22, 2023) – Two SEPTA buses crashed on Friday afternoon in the Rhawnhurst area of Northeast Philadelphia, killing one passenger and injuring more than a dozen others.
The deceased victim, a 72-year-old man, was a resident of the Castor area. The incident occurred on Roosevelt Boulevard near Shelmire Avenue at about noon, only a short distance from the victim’s residence.
Fourteen individuals were hurt in the crash, two of them seriously. One of the bus drivers is also in critical condition, according to the police.
In the interim, the inquiry is ongoing, according to the Philadelphia Police Department and SEPTA.
No further details have been released, but officers did ask witnesses for their help in the investigation.
