Philadelphia, PA (June 24, 2022) – On Wednesday night, June 22, in West Philadelphia, a 16-year-old boy was killed after a suspected drunk motorist crashed into him and another person.
The deadly incident occurred at the intersection of 44th Street and Parrish Street shortly before 11:00 p.m. After the driver struck the two pedestrians, he also collided with three parked vehicles.
Once on the site, paramedics located and brought the two patients to the hospital. The hospital declared the 16-year-old deceased upon arrival. The other pedestrian, an unidentified 20-year-old, suffered a fractured leg and other minor injuries.
The 27-year-old motorist remained in their car, a Toyota Highlander, after hitting the two victims and three parked automobiles. When authorities removed him from the truck, Chief Inspector Scott Small said that responding cops detected the odor of alcohol and believe the motorist was inebriated.
Blood tests for drugs and alcohol have not yet been completed, thus no citations or charges have been filed at this time. An investigation is still active, however.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the loved ones of the deceased teenager. We are hoping for the full recovery of the injured victim.
