Philadelphia, PA (April 7, 2023) – According to police, a 16-year-old boy from Delaware County was killed, and two other teenagers were hospitalized after a major vehicle accident that took place on Monday in the 5000 block of Fort Mifflin Road in Philadelphia.
On Wednesday, the teenager died of his injuries at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Two other local high schoolers were seriously hurt in the crash, one of whom remains hospitalized at this time.
On Monday at around 9:40 p.m., the Philadelphia Police Department notified detectives of the collision. All three victims were traveling northbound in a 2004 Honda Civic when the driver lost control and entered the southbound lane. A 2018 Ford Econoline Penske, driven by a 58-year-old man, collided with the vehicle head-on.
The driver, who has not been identified, was not injured in the incident. Neither motorist involved was suspected of being impaired at the time of the collision. No charges have been filed, but the accident remains under active investigation by the Philadelphia Criminal Investigation Division.
