Philadelphia, PA (January 11, 2023) – A person was ejected from their vehicle, and another car flipped several times due to a crash that left two dead and another injured on Interstate 95 Wednesday morning, according to Philadelphia Police officers.
According to the incident report, Pennsylvania state troopers arrived at the site at the Allegheny Avenue exit (Exit 25) just before 1:00 a.m. and discovered three damaged automobiles.
Investigators suspect the accident occurred when a car stopped in the northbound right center lane of I-95. It is unclear why that car halted, but a second vehicle rear-ended it. The crash flung the front vehicle’s driver into the roadway.
The second automobile had repeated rollovers before coming to rest in the middle lane. This vehicle’s driver was also ejected.
The drivers of these cars were declared deceased at the site of the accident. Then, a third car struck the concrete barrier on the shoulder. This motorist was transported to Temple University Hospital, where his status was classified as stable.
The collision created traffic delays, as the roadway was blocked for many hours on Wednesday morning.
An investigation is still ongoing. In the meanwhile, Philadelphia Police officers have requested that any witnesses with fresh information come forward.
Our deepest condolences are offered to the families of the deceased victims. The injured victims and their families are in our thoughts for a speedy recovery.
