Philadelphia, PA (August 16, 2022) – Two people were killed, and nine others were injured in a major car crash that took place in West Philadelphia early on Sunday morning, August 14.
Sunday, just after 3:00 a.m., a speeding Dodge Charger ran through a red light and collided with a Hyundai between 52nd Street and Walnut Street, according to the police.
Philadelphia Police officers noted that, as a consequence of the collision, two of the three occupants of the Hyundai died. A third victim with critical injuries was taken to a local hospital. The Hyundai was so severely damaged, per police, that authorities were unable to determine its model.
There were eight persons in the Dodge Charger at the time of the collision, and PPD officers said that both the driver and passenger sustained significant injuries.
Six others also suffered injuries in the accident and were transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
The driver of the Dodge was also taken to the hospital in critical condition with major head injuries. According to Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace, he is being held on prospective charges.
