Philadelphia, PA (February 27, 2023) – Just after 11:00 p.m. in the late evening hours of Monday, February 27, a multiple-vehicle crash that resulted in possible injuries took place in the greater Philadelphia area.
The Philadelphia Police Department determined that the accident happened on westbound I-76, close to exit 341 for Montgomery Drive and Highway 13. Two automobiles collided for reasons yet unclear when they switched lanes to the right, severely damaging both vehicles and leaving at least one person injured.
A large number of emergency personnel, including medics, firemen, and others, were sent to the area in case anybody was hurt. However, the conditions of the wounded and the extent of their injuries are unknown.
Exactly what led up to the crash is still being looked into by the PPD, which is also seeking witnesses at this time.
Our thoughts remain with the injured victims and their families.
Data on Philadelphia Car Accidents
According to the latest numbers released by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, at least 10,100 car accidents took place in Philadelphia County in 2017. More counties in the Commonwealth than that! There are also around 28 car accidents per day in Philadelphia County.
Moreover, more than 12,000 multi-vehicle accidents occurred in Philadelphia County in 2016.
Philadelphia has one of the highest rates of traffic-related deaths among big cities. Philadelphia has a far higher mortality rate at 6 than New York City, with 2.87 per 100,000 residents. With 1.93 deaths per 100,000 people, Boston has the nation’s lowest mortality rate, but Los Angeles comes in at a close second with 5.74 deaths per 100,000.
Unfortunate events, such as car crashes, may be traumatic and make you anxious about the future. Adding insult to injury, the situation is often much more serious if the accident occurred because the other motorist was negligent or distracted.
