Philadelphia, PA (May 8, 2022) – Injuries reportedly took place following a car accident involving multiple drivers that happened on a highway in Philadelphia early Sunday afternoon, May 8.
The collision happened at 12:50 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-76 near University Avenue and Vare Avenue, according to officials from the Philadelphia Police Department. Multiple drivers were merging on the highway when they crashed for unknown causes. Investigators on the scene believe stop-and-go traffic approaching University Avenue may have caused a chain-reaction incident.
To assist the injured victims, EMTs and first responders were summoned to the crash site. The accident caused injury to one or more people, though the victims involved have not been identified. Two people were reportedly sent to nearby medical clinics for treatment.
Several right lanes were closed in the region for some time due to the severity of the crash. However, officers worked quickly to clear up the scene.
There have been no other updates. The inquiry into the accident’s circumstances is still ongoing.
Our sincere thoughts are extended to the injured victims in hopes of a full recovery.
