Philadelphia, PA (September 26, 2022) – Authorities reported that a number of people sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle crash that happened in the greater Philadelphia area on Monday evening, September 26th.
At roughly 11:45 p.m., a collision occurred on northbound I-95, not far from Exit 22 for Highway 30.
Philadelphia police and nearby emergency medical services arrived shortly after the incident. It’s unclear how many injured victims may have been transported to an area medical clinic, however, and officers with the Philadelphia Police Department did not divulge additional information about the victims.
But the reason of the collision is still being looked into. While the probe continues, authorities are pleading for anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims, and we hope for their full recovery at this time.
Pennsylvania’s Rate of Auto Accidents & Injuries
In 2014, rear-end collisions were the second most common type of accident involving two cars in Pennsylvania. It’s important for every motorist to use utmost caution on Pennsylvania’s roads, as the state records over 20,000 multiple-vehicle wrecks throughout Philadelphia and beyond.
When driving recklessly, you risk colliding with the vehicle in front of you. In Pennsylvania, disobeying stop signs is the most common cause of collisions from behind. Sometimes it’s easy to tell who was at fault in a rear-end collision, but often the circumstances leading up to the crash remain a mystery.
It is common practice to ignore a car’s damaged rear when the front is damaged. A fatal consequence is still possible in extreme cases, such as head-on collisions. Any accident, especially one in the back, has the potential to cause catastrophic bodily harm and costly property damage.
In a rear-end collision, the severity of injuries sustained is largely determined by the rate of travel of the oncoming vehicle. Almost all rear-end collisions happen when one driver brakes suddenly, causing the vehicle behind them to slam into them. Additionally, minor collisions can cause serious harm even if the vehicles involved are traveling slowly. For instance, when the safety belt is buckled in, the seat will automatically recline. There could be catastrophic consequences, some of which could not become evident for hours or days, if you strike your seat or headrest while driving swiftly.
If the accident was not your fault and it seriously injured you, the at-fault party may be held liable for your damages.
Insurance companies may try to find ways around paying for a motorist’s long-term care or lost income and earning potential if the driver suffers permanent disabilities as a result of their injury. Businesses and large insurance companies may strive to avoid paying to protect their bottom lines, even if the victims’ injuries were not their fault.
