Philadelphia, PA (May 16, 2022) – A woman was transferred to a nearby Philadelphia hospital in critical condition after a crash that took place on Sunday evening, May 15.
Officers with the Philadelphia Police say that the woman, an unidentified 23-year-old, was walking across the street in the 7000 block of Frankford Avenue around 11:30 p.m.
At that time, she was allegedly struck by the driver of a Nissan that was going northbound in the area. First responders rushed to the site of the incident and transported the woman to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where she is listed in critical condition.
The driver remained at the scene of the wreck to cooperate with authorities. No citations or arrests were made, but an investigation into the pedestrian accident is underway.
Our sincere thoughts are extended to the injured woman and her family. We hope for the victim’s full, fast recovery.
Serious Pedestrian Crash Injuries in Pennsylvania
On our roadways, pedestrians are considered to be the most vulnerable persons, and this is especially true in congested cities like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, which are both located in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This is due to the fact that they do not possess any kind of protection against injuries in the event that they are involved in a collision with a vehicle of any kind.
Unfortunately, over the span of 2020 alone, officials say that approximately 145 people were killed in Pennsylvania pedestrian collisions, with a myriad of others sustaining moderate to major injuries.
You may experience feelings of helplessness and isolation if you or a loved one has been injured in one of these instances or if they have passed away. In addition, you may have issues and questions that can only be adequately addressed by an experienced, seasoned Philadelphia pedestrian accident attorney.
