Philadelphia, PA (October 6, 2022) – An elderly woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver a block away from her East Germantown home, Philadelphia police said, and officers are still seeking the alleged suspect.
The 81-year-old woman was crossing the street at about 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and police are looking for the car they believe struck her.
The meeting point of Musgrave Street and Chelten Avenue was the scene of the incident, according to the police. After coming to a stop momentarily, the motorist continued south on Musgrave Street.
Police have not located the car and have not been able to identify the driver.
The PPD reports that the woman passed away on Thursday. Officials added that the site of the incident was just one block from her home on the 600 block of East Price Street.
Witnesses are asked to share any information they may have with the Accident Investigation Section.
Our hearts go out to the deceased victim’s loved ones at this time.
Deadly Pedestrian Accidents in the Philadelphia Area
More often than not, pedestrians on U.S. streets and sidewalks will be hurt or killed compared to motorists. Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are two excellent cases in point. Cities and other areas of high population density in the Commonwealth are more likely to experience this kind of thing due to the greater volume of people there. Tragically, more than 140 pedestrians were killed in Pennsylvania in 2020, according to official figures and traffic experts.
If you’re a pedestrian and you are hit, you won’t have to worry about paying medical bills or replacing lost family members on your own. Those who have been harmed or lost loved ones in a pedestrian accident in Philadelphia may decide to see a legal professional.
If a pedestrian is hurt or killed in Philadelphia, they may seek legal counsel. After an accident that wasn’t your fault, you’re entitled to worry about getting back to normal.
