Piscataway, NJ (January 7, 2024) – An explosion on Friday afternoon, January 5, severely wounded four construction workers, per reports from officers with the Piscataway Police Department.
All four workers were hospitalized, according to the latest information provided by PPD officers, though their current conditions are unknown. The explosion happened as the team was checking the pressure of a gas pipe, which was under construction on the River Road bridge over Interstate 287. The ultimate cause of the explosion is unclear, however. Authorities added that OSHA is overseeing a formal investigation, but no further details in relation to the accident have been released.
