Pottstown, PA (February 21, 2022) – Around 1:43 a.m. on Monday morning, February 21, one person was killed in a fatal house fire in Pottstown.
According to local officials, the accident happened at 318 Chestnut Street. A fire broke out suddenly in one home and spread quickly to another home. The first home became fully engulfed and the individuals inside struggled to get out. One person inside the home, as well as three others, were able to get out. One of the neighbors had to jump from a second-story window to safety.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One person, identified as an adult female, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries caused by the fire. The victim who jumped out of the window was taken to a trauma center for treatment of their injuries.
The area was blocked for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the area.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the fire continues.
