Rahway, NJ (September 29, 2024) – Officers with the Rahway Police Department (RPD) reported on Saturday, September 28, that it was investigating a multi-vehicle crash on Capobianco Plaza and Leesville Avenue by Madden Field.
One driver involved in the crash, who struck several vehicles and who was suspected of driving under the influence, attempted to flee the scene before being held by several residents until police officers arrived. According to officers and local authorities at the site, xix individuals with injuries were being treated at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway while the suspect was taken into custody. However, the investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Rahway Police Department in the interim.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their family members. We hope for their full recovery.
Injury-Causing Wrecks in New Jersey
Unfortunately, the state of New Jersey accounts for over 5% of the over 32,000 annual fatal traffic accidents in the United States. More than 276,000 car accidents were reported to transportation officials in New Jersey in a single recent year, resulting in over 60,000 injuries. Every driver has a legal responsibility to operate their vehicle safely and avoid putting the lives of other drivers or bystanders in the area at risk or causing them harm.
Of course, not all drivers meet this unspoken duty. Moreover, when drivers are careless on the road, they put themselves and other drivers in danger and may even cause fatal collisions. Increases in traffic accidents occur despite better car and road safety, posing a threat to all drivers. Fortunately, the law may provide remedies if an accident causes you harm. If you want your legal team to have enough time to gather evidence, arrange the facts of your case, and build a sound claim on your behalf, it’s ideal to obtain legal counsel and skilled assistance as soon as possible.
