Reading, PA (September 16, 2023) – Reading police reported on Saturday morning that one individual was killed in a collision between an SUV and a motorcycle.
Officers with the Reading Police Department say that the accident happened on Friday night around 10:00 p.m. in the 1300 block of Hampden Boulevard. New footage showed EMTs arrived at the site of the incident shortly thereafter before placing a white sheet on top of the apparent victim, who was lying in the roadway when responders got to the area.
The Reading Police Department did not specify whether the driver stayed at the scene. RPD officers asked any witnesses with additional information to step forward.
Our deepest condolences go out to the deceased victim’s loved ones at this time.
Motorcycle Accidents in Philadelphia
Every year, motorcycle accidents are among the worst crashes that occur in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The results are particularly devastating when they occur on major streets and motorways in heavily populated cities like Philadelphia and the surrounding areas.
Unsurprisingly, these motorcycle accidents have a high mortality rate. In fact, according to research conducted recently by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the fatality rate for motorcycle accidents in Pennsylvania is up to 30 times higher than that of other vehicle collisions.
Adding insult to injury, one of the toughest things for a victim to accomplish after an injury-causing accident is to show that the other person was at fault. Moreover, after you make a claim, an insurance company will likely do anything to pay you as little as possible.
After an accident, the victim and their loved ones may feel frustrated and hopeless as they deal with third parties such as insurance companies and increasing financial obligations while embarking on a prolonged, painful recovery. Thankfully, you may have access to some legal options after a motorcycle accident.
