Toms River, NJ (February 9, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash that took place in Toms River on Tuesday night, February 8.
According to Ocean County officials, the accident happened around 10:25 p.m. at the intersection of Bay Avenue and Twin Oaks Drive. Police confirmed that a 31-year-old woman from Toms River was traveling east when she suddenly traveled onto the shoulder after losing control of her vehicle. The vehicle slammed into a pedestrian who was out of his vehicle and retrieving something on the ground.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has only been identified as an adult male, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver who struck the pedestrian was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center but is expected to recover.
Due to the severity of the collision, the roadway was blocked at the intersection for a period of time.
