Trenton, NJ (April 2, 2022) – Two people were killed in a fatal house fire that took place in a home in Trenton around 7 p.m. on Saturday night, April 2.
According to Trenton Police, the accident happened at 834 Carteret Avenue. Fire crews initially received calls about the fire in the evening hours. They quickly responded to the scene, where they discovered that a home was engulfed in smoke and flames. Fire crews were able to quickly gain access to the home.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Two 20-year-old twin brothers were tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to their injuries. Four firefighters also sustained injuries as a result of the fire and were hospitalized. One of the firefighters sustained serious burns. Two other residents were able to evacuate the building on their own.
Due to the severity of the fire, the building was completely evacuated. There were extensive damages to the home as a result.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues. Police will update with more information as it is available.
