Upper Macungie Township, PA (July 23, 2023) – The Pennsylvania State Police are looking into a deadly collision that occurred on Sunday afternoon, July 23, on westbound Interstate 78 in Lehigh County.
The crash reportedly occurred around 1:30 p.m. in Upper Macungie Township near mile marker 47.6. Police said a tractor-trailer and a car were involved in the collision and that the accident claimed the life of one person. It’s unclear if any other victims were hurt in the wreck.
Due to the accident, the westbound lanes of the highway were closed; however, the roadway reopened by the later afternoon.
No further details about the event have been made public by authorities, and the victim’s identity has not been revealed at this time. Witnesses with additional information were asked to contact the Upper Macungie Township PD as soon as possible.
