Atlantic Highlands, NJ (April 26, 2022) – One person was seriously injured in a rollover crash that took place at an intersection in Atlantic Highlands on Tuesday morning, April 26.
According to New Jersey State Police, the accident happened around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Bowne Road and Whipporwill Valley Road. A driver was traveling in the area when they suddenly lost control of their vehicle due to reasons that are not yet known. The vehicle rolled over on the side of the road.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. A 16-year-old female passenger was ejected as the vehicle was rolling. She became trapped underneath the vehicle. The victim sustained serious fractures and was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment. The 18-year-old driver of the vehicle was not hurt.
The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
