Barnegat, NJ (February 22, 2022) – A woman was killed in a fatal crash that took place at an intersection in Barnegat on Sunday night, February 20.
Police confirmed that the accident happened at 3:53 p.m. at the intersection of Barnegat Boulevard and Cole Drive. Police confirmed that a 59-year-old woman was driving in the area and attempted to make a left turn at the intersection. Her vehicle collided with a vehicle being driven by a 28-year-old man. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The 59-year-old driver was rushed to Southern Ocean Medical Center with severe injuries. She was later pronounced deceased due to these injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, identified as a 28-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was not hospitalized.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
