Burlington, NJ (January 17, 2022) – Two people were killed in a box truck accident that took place on a roadway in Burlington on Sunday morning, January 16.
According to New Jersey State Police, the accident happened around 3:54 a.m. on Jacksonville Road. A BMW was traveling south on the road when it was suddenly struck by a Hino box truck as it was leaving a driveway. After the vehicles collided with each other, the vehicle struck a utility pole and then a culvert. The BMW was left with extensive damages as a result of the collision.
Numerous responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Two individuals inside the BMW were thrown from the vehicle. The parties, identified as 24-year-old Tyshaun Carter and 53-year-old Christopher Blackmon, were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers in the vehicle were injured but are expected to recover.
Due to the severity of the collision, a large portion of the roadway was blocked for some time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
