Essex County, NJ (September 21, 2024) – A worker who fell 25 feet off an industrial building in Essex County and became lodged between metal pipes was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries, authorities said.
On September 20, the 46-year-old man from Lansdale, Pennsylvania, fell from the Robinson Tech International Corporation, also known as the RTI building, in the 300 block of Fairfield Road, according to police. He was working for a Delran-based roofing company.
Police and paramedics found the man pinned between pipes. He had suffered a head injury but was conscious and breathing, police added. A heavy-duty extrication involving a forklift that lasted about 45 minutes was needed to free the man, police said. The ultimate cause of the incident is unclear, however. Authorities added that OSHA is overseeing a formal investigation, but no further details in relation to the accident have been released.
