Hamilton, NJ (January 15, 2022) – Police responded to the scene of a multi-vehicle collision with injuries on a highway in Hamilton around 3:23 p.m. on Friday, January 14.
According to Hamilton Township officials, the accident happened on the New Jersey Turnpike around the area of mile marker 57. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when one or more lost control, causing them to collide in a chain-reaction crash. The involved vehicles were extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One person, who has not yet been identified, was hurt in the accident. The injured party was taken to the hospital but their current condition is not yet known.
Due to the severity of the collision, traffic was backed up in the area for about two miles. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so that all traffic could resume.
New Jersey State Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision at this time.
